FAQ.

Questions people ask before losing money.

How does it work?

You commit to being at a place at a time — say, the gym, Mondays and Thursdays at 18:00. You put real money on it: €5 to €1000. Your call.

Each scheduled slot has a check-in window: it opens 60 minutes before the scheduled time and slams shut atthe scheduled time. Open the app inside the window, let the browser verify your location at the venue, done. No verified location — because you weren't there, your GPS sulked, or you denied the permission — counts as a miss. A miss costs the full stake. Every time.

The fine print you'll pretend you didn't read: the 23 hours before a due occurrence are locked — no editing, no pausing, no deleting, no card swaps. Fresh commitments get a 3-hour grace after creation before anything arms. A failed charge is retried once, about a day later. That's it.

Why do I have to give my credit card?

Because extrinsic is free. Forever. No subscription, no premium tier, no ads. As long as you show up.

The card is the product. A promise with no money behind it is a wish — you've tried wishes, and here you are. The card on file is what makes 7:00 AM you actually get up.

Where does the money go?

To the Puppy Killer Foundation.

Kidding. It pays the server bill and keeps extrinsic running. No, it doesn't go to a good cause — sorry. That's deliberate: if your forfeited stake bought mosquito nets, missing would feel fine. It's not supposed to feel fine.

Will I really be charged?

Yes.

I want a refund

No refunds.

“But my grandma died!” — we're sorry, and we can't verify that. Nobody can. The moment sob stories work, every miss has one, and extrinsic stops working — for you too. Real stakes or no stakes.

I found a bug

Very nice. Tell us: hey@extrinsic.app. If it made you miss a check-in, say so — a human reads these.
